Mapping Conflicts Motives
The Belgian research institute and member of Fatal Transactions IPIS published in March this year its report Mapping Conflict Motives: The Eastern DRC. This analysis is based on cartographic evidence, gathered through extensive field research, which shows the direct link between mining areas and trade routes on the one hand, and violence and human rights abuses perpetrated by the national army and rebel groups on the other.
