Yellow Imperialism or successful wealth creation formula?
China’s influence on the African continent has grown significantly in the past decade. More than 40 African heads of states attended the last China-Africa summit in Beijing in November 2006, a signifi cantly larger attendance than similar meetings between African leaders and the European Union. The Beijing summit—which celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Asian superpower and African nations—was also a symbol for a geostrategic shift, which is currently taking place on the continent.
Fatal Transactions wants to address the issue of Chinese presence in Africa and inform our public on the rationale and motives behind the Chinese foreign policy on Africa. Moreover, Fatal Transactions argues that it is vital for African governments and their societies to engage in this debate and set the standards for Chinese and other foreign investments entering their economical territories.
That's why Fatal Transactions, in cooperation with BICC, has created an online webdossier with more background and information on China in Africa and further readings and publications.
